WK1 Machine Stitch

I've always enjoyed machine stitch so was excited to start the textile world of embroidery. In this project I have started to develop many samples using machine stitch. I was also introduced to a wide range of fabrics that I hadnt used before (wool flannel, silk organza, domette cotton, double georgette silk).

Although within the first week we have only been using a straight foot consisting of satin, straight and zig zag stitch, I have learnt and discovered interesting techniques. Instead of using a cotton thread in the bobbin, I used Pearl Cotton No.8. I then had to stitch back to front on these samples for the thicker thread to show. The silk organza combined with the thicker thread work together really well, giving a really fine line quality.
Critically, I feel these samples need to be improved by being more delicate and tidy with threads and loose ends, and by pressing the fabric before and after I sample in order to keep it flat and prevent it from bunching up as it goes through the sewing machine.
