Group Feedback Session

Today we had a small group meeting to show and explain our work to others. I was in a group with three others, one from embroidery like me, one from print and one from mixed media. This task helped me gain insight into what work people had produced in their worlds, and to look through their sketchbooks and learn how they produced certain pieces. We all just sat in our groups and looked through mounted samples and sketch books, and then communicated with the groups sat near us to look at more work.

I learnt that mixed media was all about sketch book work, with many drawings and then development with fabrics and materials, Whereas the girl who did print was very colourful throughout her work and included lots of shape; I feel I preferred the print world to the mixed media world as mixed looked quite complicated to me, and it isn’t particularly the way I like to work.
I am excited but nervous to begin the textile world of construct; I feel like I will enjoy it as I’m still working with fabrics and mark making, and I can incorporate hand embroidery into my knit and weave samples.
