Ability To Contextualise

Throughout this project I have been much focussed with my collection being suited for fashion. I feel both my techniques and yarn choice make my work suitable for wearing. My awareness on current trends inspired my colour choices: grey, orange, and lime green. Following current trends and designers in my work was very important as these elements can target an audience for my collection. For this project I paid lots of attention to designers, especially Alexander Wang, I also looked at Christian Dior & Kenzo.

In order to contextualise my own knits, I started to think about how I would actually see these pieces. I think my work is better suited for high end/ couture fashion due to techniques such as hooking up, if this was a whole garment e.g. A jumper, it would be quite time consuming to make.  I pinned some final samples onto a mannequin to explore a contextual approach. A range of my samples are made in a long & skinny shape, I purposely didn’t cast on wide as I saw some samples as more accessorised pieces, e.g. arm cuffs, neck detailing.
