This week I have continued to develop my final samples. I have combined a range of shapes and elements selected from visual research in my sketchbook to create structure, distress and movement. I feel using burnt paper and foils has worked successfully throughout my project, communicating my concept by composing decay and burning in the same elements. I have found some of my sampling very temperamental due to the fine yarn I have been using on the 12 gauge Dubied, yet I have managed to get successful outcomes. I am really pleased with my progress on the Dubied as I was really unconfident on them last unit.
In my development samples I have been bleaching and painting onto my knits to diffuse colour. These techniques were really successful in communicating my visual research, yet I will not be taking this through to my final collection as I feel it is not very neat and doesn't reflect a collection for high fashion.
I pinned some of my final samples onto mannequins to start to think about garment outcomes and placements. The inlay mock rib and pockets draws attention to the chest area in this sample. I feel my womenswear collection would be suitable for A/W due to the use of mohair throughout my samples, furthermore the muted colour scheme reflect an A/W season.
