Abandonment | Gabriele Colangelo

Gabriele Colangelo
S/S 2013

City hippy was the vibe of this fresh and elegant S/S collection. Colangelo explored fabrics, contrasting and layering sheer organza with strong elements of femininity, making the collection everyday wearable.
The Mondrian-like block colours and the expressive  prints seen throughout, elevated the clean-line silhouettes and contemporary use of fabrics, breaking them up in a controlled way that kept it looking sleek rather than superfluous.
I was drawn to this collection due to the diffusion of colour throughout the garments. Gabriele uses a muted tone throughout, with shades of grey, black and hints of white in sections. These designs inspired me to gradually get dark to light tones throughout my knits, but to also contrast black against white in broken lines and fine lines. I plan to create this effect by plaiting, and also mock rib with inlays using a range of yarns, especially mohair to brush the colours together.
