Kate Fletcher

Kate is an artist who engages her work with cultural and creative parts of fashion and design. Jane Webb, our lecturer, introduced us to founder of ‘slow fashion’ and I was intrigued by her work. What interested me is what inspires her design thinking and working process in her art work.

Project Lifetimes

Kate conducted a research project collaborating with Mathilda Tham which explores connections between clothes, time and sustainability. What I like about the way Kate works as an artist is that she asks others questions relating to her project, getting insight into other peoples relationships with clothes and putting them to good use. Kate Fletcher is the first artist I've studied that uses such insightful primary research, which I find very inspiring.

While researching I came across Kate's blog. I like how she conducts research and projects around the world and collaborates with not only artists, but communities and organisations.
