Weave Development
While developing my primary research and sketchbook throughout the weaving unit I have been focussing mostly on mark makings, bold shapes and line qualities. In these images of my weaving samples I have been using black yarns to reflect marks in my sketchbook while experimenting with shafts and inlaying yarns. I found that I started to enjoy weave more by just playing around with shaft structures and experimenting with techniques. I also enjoyed using thicker yarns such as mohair which gave a fluffier texture to my weaves. I
also enjoyed using thicker yarns such as mohair which gave a fluffier texture
to my weaves, composed with fine yarns to highlight the comparison in structure. I feel like this was a bit of a breakthrough for me as I started to find it easier to relate my research and communicate it through this method, instead of following all of the set shaft structures and trying to show my theme through changes of yarns and inlays.
