I have found that since starting weave I have found it more challenging to relate my research to my practical samples compared to embroidery. I started my weave samples off very basic to grasp the skill, using only plain weave and then introducing different coloured yarns to create a grid type sample.
It wasn't until my one to one with Lesley that I started to realise how to communicate my research and drawings into my weave. My sketch book work is very linear and consists of interruptions in either colour or shape to show the behaviour of tube lines. After experimenting I decided to show these interruptions in my weave by changing either yarns, (thicker/colour/ textured yarns) changing the shafts to interrupt the pattern, or by placing inlays of yarns in my weaving samples.
