I was really excited to start weaving again; although I had done
it in the previous unit I felt like this was a new experience as we made
our own warps & threaded up, and were also working with smaller warp.
In tutorials we spoke about the areas we all wanted to research
into more; I was especially interested in the shape and structre we saw in
Blackpool, but was also really inspired from the infomation i gathered from
Belle Vue talks and wanted to look further into the zoo element and
animals. While i was gathering more images for my research, i started to look at decorative elements and how the zoo would dress the animals. I see it as a manipulation, and looking back at how they would treat the animals it comes across as quite bazaar.
Lesley suggested an artist that works in a bazaar and unique style.
Hannah Hoch
Her work is very different to what i usually come across; but I love the manipulation and how interesting it is to combine and play about with different elements. Taking inspiration from her ideas I would like to start playing around with images in my sketchbook by cutting/drawing/layering/adding media etc.
