I decided to experiment and scan in some of my drawings and hand embroidery pieces to play around with shape, colours and size. I found this was a really successful change for me as I found I enjoyed working in a digital manner; furthermore it allowed me to overlap and play with scale, giving me more ideas for practical samples.
In these images I kept the focus quite linear, looking at loopy shapes and bright colours I had used in my work. I combined this with an elephant drawing in order to capture the essence of trapping with shape that I have been focussing on in this unit.

Final thoughts
Overall I have really enjoyed unit X, I feel I have experimented more confidently with materials and techniques compared to previous projects. I have always enjoyed working in a smaller scale sothe passementerie style really suited me. I feel that my project could have benefitted from a wider range of contextual research as I didn't focus much on textile artists, this would have given me more inspiration in practical.
In preparation for the exhibition, I am going to continue to create samples that are more refined and sensitive to my research. I am going to focus on texture and colour and continue to hand embroid with yarns.
