I found the group feedback session really useful as we were producing work throughout summer without much opinion & guidance. The group really liked my work because its quite abstract and there are spacial elements throughout. They also said my work had a theme of travelling throughout, which was good because it could link to either of the briefs - Urban Influences/ Mobile Habitats. Another successful commment they made was that I used a range of material such as yarn, thread, paper types, and also I included lots of evidence of primary images.
Because I sourced a lot of my inspiration from Santorini images, the group said that i should play around with colour in order to develop further. Furthermore they suggested to source contextual artists and make links and to also start creating yarn wrappings and play with texture.
During this feedback task it was really useful to have others look at my work but also to see what other students had done over the summer for insight and inspirations of other ways to work. While presenting my sketcbook I noticed the most successful pieces were those where i concentrated on shape and linear elements. Furthermore pieces where i embroided onto paper/combined thread into drawings were successful as they gave texture and contrast within the drawing.
In some drawings i over complicated composing shape, lines and colour in a crowed way which made my work lose its spacial element. Furthermore I need to experiment by getting out of my sketchbook and work on loose sheets and in a larger scale.
