I chose the Urban Influences brief as I love
looking at subject matter, spacial and linear elements. In order to gather
inspiration I went into the centre of Manchester to source images and observe
the built up areas. At first I really struggled to find inspiration from the
images I took, but then the more I researched I realised I was interested in
extracting shape from buildings and combining this with the movement throughout
the city and influence of people.
I chose to edit the
images I took; I’m really interested at looking into the detail of shape in
quite a muted way and creating patterns. The result of this keeps my research
quite linear and abstract.
In order to now develop my work further so I can start to draw & knit I need find my colour palette and to also look contextually at artist/designers that will inspire me.
