Inspiration

Claire Anne O'Brien

Contextually I was looking into specialist areas of knit; I have always loved textiles as interiors but wanted to look specifically into knitted products. Claire produces textiles for furniture, space & product. She works in a sculptural form, investigating construction and scale through textiles. I was drawn to the thick body of the furniture, and the elements of overlapping and pattern.

Suzanne Antonelli

I have been following Suzanne on Pinterest; she is a print designer based in Norwich and creates products such as notebook covers & wall hangings. I was really drawn to her work due to the composition of shapes in her work, likewise the combination of patterns. Her designs have helped me compose shape within my drawings while still communicating a sense of space.
Suzanne similarly uses the vibrant lime yellowish/green tone that Claire O'Brien has used in some of her products. I have been really drawn to this colour as its eye catching and contrast well with different tones, which i have been using in my work. I would like to slowly introduce this colour into my body of work, and combine with my current colour scheme. I am excited to use this colour against the bright orange in my work to give my samples a bit more excitement.

I have started to draw with this lime tone to develop & start introducing into my knits.
