Live Brief | Sampling

This week I have been struggling to communicate typical Fendi elements through my work, I think this was due to colour choice and being unsure of techniques to use in order to reflect geometry. I had been using white in the wrong proportion and not enough signature Fendi colours such as black and yellow.
I looked back at previous collections in order to overcome this.

Both images really influenced my colour palette. I will be using subtle darker colours like black, grey and khaki, contrasted with white, peach, and bold hints of orange. As I was finding it difficult to knit in a geometric style, I am going to try using white foils with appliqué on organza, which is common in Fendi S/S collections.

On the Dubied Machine this week I have been creating Half Milano knits with colour change, to reflect the blocky style of Fendi. Furthermore I have also been using techniques such as plaiting, inlays and holding check to create samples that block in a square/rectangular style. Moving forward during the week before Branding deadline I need to take the strengths of these samples through to make a final collection; I would like to foil onto my knits to contrast the two styles.
